There's nothing I love more than a good book, the more angst the better for me. I received my first e-reader a little over two years ago and since then my reading habit increased 100x. The 1-click buy now option is now my dealer and I'm addicted. I read anywhere between 400-500 books a year of all genres but mostly the books that I read fall into the romance/erotica category. Until recently I avoided leaving written reviews for the books that I've read but recently I made the decision to try to review what I can. All reviews that I write are based solely on my own opinion. I am not swayed by other reviews or opinions and I could care less if my review is the only good or bad review left for a book. I'm honest to a fault when it comes to that. My reviews may not be popular but they are mine :)
Unforgiven - Elizabeth Finn

I really, really want to punch this H in the throat.

Freeing Asia - E.M. Abel

Freeing Asia was my random pick of the week. Never heard of it, had no clue who the author was, didn't even read the sample. On occasion (meaning frequently) my random pick turns on me making me question why I even bother reading at all. I'm happy to say that Freeing Asia didn't make me question my love for reading :)

Due to the fact that this book is written by a new author I'm willing to overlook just a little bit more than I would for a well established author. The first half of the book felt like it was crowded with too many details that weren't important to the story. Filler material about the h's work day etc. The h was a bit immature at times but she's only 24 so I can deal if it's not too excessive.

Aside from that the overall story kept me interested, the sex scenes were hot, and I loved the heroines love interest.

Well written with no cliffhanger.

The End of Games (The Single Lady Spy Series, #2) - Tara Brown

Ok, so this isn't the best series out there, but it makes me laugh and keeps me entertained for awhile. Evie still has me laughing out loud with her often dramatic inner-dialogue.

"What if it was Servario trying to kill me, like he’d threatened to do tons of times? I had no answer that I could trust. I knew my vagina’s answer was a hearty no. But I couldn’t trust that slut. My brain screamed that I had only ever spent a week with him and he had stuck his finger in my bum. He was not to be trusted."

Sevario is still a sexy, arrogant asshole who thinks he rules the world. Coop has finally made his play leaving poor Evie, stuck in the middle usually missing her panties.

Yes, it is OTT and you have to suspend your reality check for a bit, but it's a fun series that I will continue to read until it's no longer fun.

Public Service Announcement

The Last Hour of Gann - R. Lee Smith

If you enjoy reading a book that is thought provoking, imaginative, and chock full of multi-layered characters, then look no further than The Last Hour of Gann.

Every single book that I've read by this author has left me speechless in the end. Her books are dark, violent, erotic, and unbelievably unique. I honestly don't know how she does it! I can go from being horrified one moment to laughing my ass off in the next. This book is long, and usually I find myself becoming bored with the XXL books, but not this time. This time I didn't want the story to end.

No matter what genre you are into you can't help but be moved by these crazy ass character's and their plights.

My Personal Opinion

Torn: The Connections Series, #2 - Kim Karr

Basic summary for Torn book two in the Connections series by Kim Karr.

Shocking revelation! (But not really because if you read book one then it's no surprise)

Miscommunication.

Forgotten cell phones.

More miscommunication.

More forgotten cell phones. (Really?)

Even more miscommunication. (Do you see a pattern here?)

And sadly enough we have more forgotten cell phones. (Are you still with me?)

Drawn out multiple instances of miscommunication between the two MC's was the overall theme here.

Dirty Mouth

Bound by Night - Larissa Ione

First three words from chapter one are "Go Fuck Yourself"! Sounds like my kind of Vampire ;)

Beyond Pain - Kit Rocha Beyond Pain (Beyond, #3) Beyond Shame was just alright for me. Beyond Control was a bit better than alright. Beyond Pain has now brought this series to my attention leaving me wanting more! Each book so far has focused on a different couple and things have been tied up nicely in the end not leaving any cliffhangers, but holy hell I want some Ace, Cruz, and Rachel right now! Waiting until Spring 2014 for the next book in the series is going to be rough.
The Moment We Began (Fairhope, #2) - Sarra Cannon This one was actually pretty decent. I was in the dark until the author chose to shed the light on Mason's deal. His reasons for not committing were unexpected. Will probably read more from this author in the future.
For the Summer - Shey Stahl Read this book but will not review due to instances of plagiarism involving this author and some of her books. This book being one of the ones in question.

Unspoken (The Woodlands)

Unspoken - Jen Frederick 3 1/2 stars for Unspoken (Woodlands,#2)Well written, easy breezy NA book. Not a whole lot of drama or drawn out misunderstandings going on in this book. HFN ending, with no cliffhanger.

Covet

Covet - Tracey Garvis-Graves My bad! I didn't realize that Covet was "Women's Fiction" also known as "Chick Lit". Had I know that I wouldn't have chosen to read it. I loved On the Island! When I saw that this book was coming out I pre-ordered it without a second thought. I was waiting, and waiting and then finally Covet was downloaded to my Kindle! So excited I went to start it right away. I read as though my life depended on it. I kept reading, and reading and the next thing I knew it was over. Wait, that's it? Did I miss something important? What was this book even about? Just the everyday mundane struggles that most married people experience in life. No story here. If I wanted to read about the toll that the economy, and the tough job market has had on marriages in all sectors I'd go have that chat with my neighbor for free.Well written but incredibly boring.

Songs of Submission: Sequence One (Songs of Submission, #1-3)

Songs of Submission: Sequence One (Songs of Submission, #1-3) - C.D. Reiss Despite the fact that this is a serial consisting of several short episodes, I'm finding myself strangely addicted. A bit cliche but not bad.

WTF?

Plush - Kate Crash, Catherine Hardwicke

Clearly this is a love it or hate it kind of read.Yes, it was a fucking mess. I have a fondness for damaged character's, but I have to be able to connect with them on some level. I have to be able to feel bad for them when the situation warrants it. I have to be able to understand the pull that draws others to them. I have to be able to imagine myself in their fucked up shoes.

I get what the author was trying to accomplish here. An attempt was made to draw the reader into the fucked up mind of Haley. I've read my fair share of bipolar, drug addicted character's and there have been many times that I've been absorbed in their high with a clear understanding of their state of mind. What they see, what they feel, the description of the sounds that surround them while in a manic state, or even a drug induced haze. This can be accomplished by a talented writer without the use of choppy disjointed prose.

The first half of this book was incredibly frustrating. All the five star reviews left me curious so I was determined to keep going. I wanted to find what it was about this book that made it so enticing. What is hidden in this mess that other readers loved so much? After finishing this book I am still without answers. I admit to having a few WTF moments but they were not because of unexpected surprises or anything truly shocking. I was disturbed by the weirdness between Haley, and her brother Jack. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what Carter saw in Haley. Obviously Enzo is off his rocker so who knows what even started his fascination with the group. Then we get to the open to interpretation ending. Normally this is something that would bother me leaving me in the dark desperate for answers. It didn't bother me this time because to be honest I just didn't even care by that point.

This book was written based on a screenplay. I have no clue how much of this book comes from the author's imagination or if it is close to the original writers vision.

Good (Too Good, #1)

Good (Too Good, #1) - S. Walden Am I missing something here? The heroine in this book lacked the emotional maturity needed for me to be able to believe that a consensual relationship between her and her 28 year old teacher was possible. The non-H in this book came off as a predator in my opinion and I couldn't help but feel sorry for the heroine.

Hurt

Hurt - Tabitha Suzuma I've gone over and over how to even go about reviewing this book and the words have escaped me.I went in blind and I wasn't sure what to expect when I started Hurt. I ran through several scenarios in my head after reading the first chapter, thinking I had it all figured out. I was wrong. The first half of the book the author leaves small truths in words and phrases casually left behind, that at first seem unimportant, easy clues that can be applied to all sorts of scenarios. Later after I was finished with the book all these left behind words and phrases came back to haunt me making their truth known. Leaving me devastated in their wake.It isn't often that a book is capable of completely taking over my five senses. I could feel every single emotion as my own. I could look at the scene and picture myself there. All touches were felt by me. All sounds heard by my ears alone. The bitter taste of truth was shared by my mouth. This author has written a story that I will never forget, nor will I ever recover from. Mattie will stay with me in my heart for the rest of my days.
Uncommon Passion (Uncommon, #2) - Anne Calhoun I think I've only read one other book from this author before and that was a long time ago. That is going to change though because clearly I've been missing out! The story itself was something new for me. Here we have a heroine who has grown up in a completely sheltered environment. Growing up as a woman in a fundamentalist group where women are treated as though they are only good for two things. Being a wife, and having babies. This heroine has never spent time with a man that was not her father or pastor. At the age of 25 after leaving that life behind she has decided that she's ready for more. That my friends is where the H comes into play. Here we have an H who is emotionally closed off from everyone around him. His goal in life is to work and to fuck. Being a SWAT team officer comes with the element of danger and the added stress that he needs to maintain his don't give a fuck attitude. When the h is the winning bidder at a charity auction that includes a night out with this hero, he has no clue what's in store for him. The h wants to learn how to be a woman in the sexual sense, and this H is more than willing to teach her what he thinks she needs to learn. Weekly meetings for no strings attached sexual tutoring begin. What happens when that isn't enough for these two? You'll have to read to find out ;)I have to admit that the sex scenes between these two were so well described that it felt like I was there experiencing everything for myself. Hot and dirty yet sincere.
